Exterior Wood Rot and Siding Repair
Exterior wood repairs and replacement siding, with related work around a rear door and an update to bathroom exhaust venting.
A deck that rotted from the water it trapped, rebuilt to last: low-maintenance composite where the weather reaches it, new railings, a light in every step and storage built into the space below.

A rotted deck is rarely just a problem with the boards. This one had a cause, and the rebuild started there, so the new deck would not repeat the failure of the old one.
The deck had to be replaced because of wood rot, and the reason was in plain sight once the team looked closely. Tile had been carried from the house out onto the deck with nowhere for water to drain, so every rain left water sitting on the structure until the wood gave out.
Swapping out the damaged boards would only have reset the clock. Naming the cause first meant the new deck could be planned to let water go instead of holding it.
The old deck came out and a new one went in. Where the area is covered, a seamless cut joins the new work to the existing surface without a visible break. Where the deck is open to sun and rain, it transitions into composite decking.
Composite holds its color and does not need the regular sealing that wood asks for, which is exactly what an exposed deck needs after a history of water damage. The photos show the team on site, cutting the composite and building the new framing.
New railings frame the deck, and the new steps were built with lighting hardwired into every one of them.
Each tread is easy to see after dark, which makes the stairs safer for the household and their guests and turns them into part of the evening view rather than something to watch for.
A wall between the steps and the deck closes in the space underneath and turns it into storage.
Room that most decks leave empty can now keep outdoor furniture, tools and seasonal gear out of sight and out of the weather, right where they are needed.
A deck built to handle the weather that wore out the old one, with stairs that light the way and storage that puts the space beneath it to work. For the homeowners, a failing structure became an outdoor space that does more and asks for less upkeep.
